In science we examined water evaporation and the water cycle.

In French we read and wrote about all things water related; fishing, swimming, fish and whales!

In ERC we looked at how people around the world search for hours on end each day for clean water to drink. This allowed the students to analyze their own water consumption. The students then had to set a realistic goal for themselves regarding a way they would not waste water.

Lastly, considering this is a Christian school, during bible study we studied bible verses such as, John 4:14 and Psalm 23:2.

Bulletin Boards

Here is a bulletin board I created for the hallway outside my grade one and two classrooms. Again, considering Emmanuel is a Christian establishment, this bulletin was more than appropriate as we celebrated the first day of Spring and all the wonderful colours that would soon follow!

Again at Emmanuel Christian School I created this bulletin board as a follow-up activity to an Easter lesson I presented to the students.

During my stay at Emmanuel Christian school my grade one and two students worked on a cross-curricular unit that related to water.

After having worked on goal setting with my grade six students at Edgewater Elementary, I created this bulletin board.

Each student had to set a S.M.A.R.T goal for themselves and considering it was football season, I decided to display their goals for all to see using a football theme.

During my stay at Cuillierrier and Sainte-Marthe elementary, my grade 2 students worked on a Halloween theme that related to spiders!

After having learned the ''Itsy Bitsy Spider'' song, discussed our fears, and having learned about their body parts, the students created their own shape spiders

Around the same time, students in grade 1 learned about scarecrows, clothing and the changing colours of the trees

Students had to complete the simple song as they described their scarecrow outfits (colour of each clothing item).

After having read the online story, ''Sneezy the Snowman'' by Maureen Wright, my grade 4 ESL students completed a handout where they displayed activities that snowmen should never partake in! Their ideas were not only creative but also  hilarious

With the helping hands of a wonderful coworker, I painted a large Grinch and displayed him in the school hallways at Sainte-Marthe & Cuillierrier Elementary.

Throughout the month of December, students and staff were to fill his chest with kind gestures they had witnessed throughout the school hours. The Grinch's chest was quickly filled as everyone tried their best to bring kindness, acceptance, and love to the school.

In my ESL grade 6 class, we did a whole unit around peace & how peace begins with us. Here is a poster that we created to share with the whole school what peace means to us.

We began the unit by discussing peace with the help of these questions.

We also discussed & analyzed music productions that bring peace to us.

  • Where is the Love? - Black Eyed Peas

  • All you Need is Love - Beatles

  • True Colors - Cindy Lauper

We discussed and wrote about ways to bring peace to difficult situations (sibling borrowing without asking, not being able to do something, people gossiping around us, witnessing bullying, etc).

Lastly, students created and presented posters to promote peace in different areas of their lives (home, school, community).
