I am originally from a small town in the Eastern Townships therefore the idea of having classroom activities that relate to and give back to the community are important to me.

My favorite part about my class is who I share it with!

With that said, I want an open door policy for my classroom.

  • Parents will be invited to portfolio presentations.

  • I will hold a pizza party and/or themed reading night in my classroom each term.

  • Parents will always be invited to be present and actively participate as I create an individual education plan for their child.

  • I will work with other teachers and create mixed class activities and projects.

As for my students, I believe in having them contribute to making the community a better place for everyone. As we study and learn together in the classroom we can develop ideas that help others. Not only will these good deeds relate to the curriculum but they will also be a benefit as the students grow as responsible and respectful citizens.

I truly see giving as not being a duty but rather a privilege. Plus, helping never goes out of style!

As my students and I are involved in making the community a better place for all, I will unquestionably be inspiring kindness and concern.

Examples of ways my class and I will help the community as we learn.

  • Recycle, recycle, and recycle!

  • Volunteer at a soup kitchen.

  • Clean the school yard and local parks

  • Offer free tutoring for younger students.

  • Hold fundraisers to buy food for families in need.

  • Write inspirational messages to women in shelters and/or the sick.

  • Collect warm clothes and give it to women and/or homeless shelters.

  • Have a garden and give all the produce to the homeless or needy families.

  • Visit senior homes and offer our services (game night, allow them to share their stories, beauty parlor, etc.)

The students will decide on what and how they want to help the community. Ultimately their decisions will be geared towards what we are studying in class at the time being.
