The Joy Girls Club

As a teacher it is important to recognize any issues that your students might be having. During my third field experience, I found myself dealing with a group of grade six girls that did not get along. With this said, there were countless issues that would be brought up during class regarding exclusion, rumors, and betrayal.

After having done a unit on bullying, as well as one of discrimination, it was apparent that their needs were not being met. I felt that this particular group did in fact need further guidance and support in regards to their ongoing issues.

Consequently I created a lunch hour club with all the grade six girls and together we worked on dealing with tension between them, as well as building their own self-confidence.

The document attached is the program that I followed every Friday for 6 weeks.
